ECCO2 is proud to support Coopérative Cité Derrière in their ambitious energy transition, aimed at reducing environmental impact and phasing out fossil fuels. As part of this initiative, ECCO2 Building Intelligence has been successfully deployed across their real estate portfolio, enabling real-time energy monitoring, optimizing resources and driving cost savings.

Project Scope and Deployment
The deployment covered 63 properties, representing a total area of over 120’000 m². Between September and November 2024, 90% of the properties were equipped with ECCO2’s intelligent heating optimization technology, ensuring a swift and efficient rollout. A total of 1’496 indoor climate sensors were installed.

Although the heating season is still ongoing, the initial results already show a significant impact:70% of the portfolio displays measurable energy savings, with 16% of the buildings already exceeding 20% in energy reduction.

This promising start indicates that even greater efficiencies will be achieved by the end of the heating season, with ECCO2 measuring the total CO2 savings to track Cité Derrière’s progress toward its decarbonization goals.

The Benefits of ECCO2 Monitoring for Cité Derrière
Beyond energy savings, ECCO2’s real-time monitoring has already provided crucial insights, enabling the early detection of some system inefficiencies and malfunctions within Cité Derrière’s portfolio. Few examples:

  • Resolution of technical failures: In November, the system detected blocked mixing valves in a building, which was promptly addressed to the property management and caretaker. The issue was resolved the same day.
  • Heating circuit issue: In January, an obstruction was detected in the manifold of the underfloor heating system of an apartment which prevented proper circulation of hot water. Direct communication with the tenant and property management enabled swift corrective action, restoring circulation and ensuring optimal heat distribution.
  • Detection of regulation issues: In February, ECCO2 Monitoring identified instances where domestic hot water production was prioritized at the expense of heating, leading to imbalances. Adjustments were made to restore an optimal balance, ensuring tenant comfort.

The data collected will continue to support ongoing improvements, ensuring smooth operations.

Thanks to machine learning that continuously optimizes heating settings, further savings are expected in the coming cycles, reinforcing the long-term sustainable value of this initiative.

Mr. Joël Cornuz, President of Cité Derrière, states:
“With ECCO2, we optimize the energy management of our real estate portfolio while quickly identifying areas for improvement. This technology helps us reduce our carbon footprint and achieve increasingly ambitious energy performance goals. We are convinced that this approach will allow us to reduce costs and improve the efficiency of our installations in the long run.”

ECCO2 is proud to support Cité Derrière in optimizing their portfolio’s energy efficiency and advancing their energy transition, helping to reduce CO2 emissions and achieve even greater results in the coming seasons.
